Jamil Abu Sbaih’s Narratives are the product of a mind that is preoccupied with the drama of life in its different manifestations, but the major motif common to most of them is the quest for freedom. Freedom is significant in his narratives, and probably in his poetry in general, because as a man whose family were uprooted from their home and whose people were expelled from their villages and cities and ended up as refugees living in misery, he has always dreamed of freedom for his people, both under occupation and in the diaspora.
